Job summary

Network Recruitment in Pretoria is seeking a Junior Accountant to grow in a dynamic, technology-driven business. You will join a collaborative finance team and gain exposure to a modern function where your contribution matters day by day.

SAIPA training/articles are highly valued; 1–3 years’ accounting experience is ideal. You will handle tasks up to Trial Balance and assist with VAT, SARS, UIF, COIDA, bank reconciliations, and payroll systems using Sage, Xero and other tools.

Qualifications

• SAIPA training or articles strongly preferred.
• 1–3 years of accounting experience.
• Experience up to Trial Balance and financial statements.
• Knowledge of SARS, VAT, UIF and COIDA.
• Exposure to multiple payroll and accounting systems.
• Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
• Ability to manage priorities in a high-volume environment.
• Clean criminal and credit record required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review accounts up to Trial Balance.
• Process and reconcile bank accounts, debtors, creditors and cashbooks.
• Perform general ledger reconciliations and post month-end journals.
• Assist with monthly management accounts and financial reporting.
• Prepare VAT and SARS-related returns and reconciliations.
• Handle UIF and Workmen's Compensation / COIDA administration and submissions.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation.
• Assist with fixed assets, statutory compliance and audit preparation.
• Work across multiple accounting systems and ensure information is processed accurately and timeously.
• Manage competing priorities and deadlines within a high-volume finance environment.
• Support continuous improvement of finance processes and internal controls.

Job Experience & Skills Required

• SAIPA training / articles highly preferred.
• Approximately 1-3 years' relevant accounting experience.
• Strong practical understanding of accounting through to Trial Balance.
• Working knowledge of SARS, VAT, UIF and Workmen's Compensation / COIDA.
• Exposure to multiple accounting and payroll systems, ideally including:
• Sage
• Xero
• Payroll systems
• Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills are essential.
• Ability to prioritise effectively when managing multiple deadlines.
• High-energy, proactive and hands-on personality.
• Able to work independently while contributing effectively within a team.
• A clean criminal and credit record is required, as relevant pre-employment checks will be conducted.
