NH Hotels & Resorts in Johannesburg invites applications for a Junior Accountant role based in Sandton. You will support the Finance Department with accurate processing of financial transactions, reconciliations, and reporting to uphold financial integrity.

The ideal candidate has 1-3 years in accounting/finance, knowledge of accounting principles, and proficiency in Excel. Hospitality experience is advantageous, and attention to detail is essential to meet deadlines and contribute to audits.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To support the Finance Department by ensuring accurate processing of financial transactions, maintaining accounting records, preparing reconciliations, and assisting with financial reporting. The Junior Accountant plays a key role in ensuring financial integrity, compliance, and efficient financial operations.

Financial Transactions

• Process supplier invoices, payments, and creditor reconciliations.
• Capture and maintain accurate accounting records in the financial system.
• Process journal entries and assist with month‑end procedures.
• Ensure all supporting documentation is properly filed and maintained.

Accounts Payable & Receivable

• Assist with debtor and creditor account reconciliations.
• Follow up on outstanding debtor balances.
• Verify and process supplier invoices and payment requests.
• Resolve discrepancies relating to invoices and payments .

Reconciliations

• Perform daily, weekly, and monthly bank reconciliations.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate variances.
• Assist with cashbook and petty cash reconciliations.

Financial Reporting

• Assist in preparing monthly management reports.
• Support budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Prepare schedules and reports required for audits.
• Ensure financial data is accurate and submitted within deadlines.

Compliance & Controls

• Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
• Maintain confidentiality of financial information.
• Support internal and external audit processes.
• Assist in implementing and maintaining financial controls.

Minimum Requirements

Education

• Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

Experience

• 1-3 years' experience in an accounting or finance environment.
• Hospitality experience advantageous .

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
