Mh-Solutions seeks an experienced Civil Engineer (Pr Eng) to lead civil design and site delivery for a utility-scale solar PV project in Cape Town. You will sign as Pr Eng for civil, geotechnical, hydrological and structural design, and manage surveys, geotechnical investigations and site interfaces.

The role requires a decade of civil experience with at least three years since Pr Eng, SA driver’s license, and readiness to travel.

Qualificações

• BSc Eng or BEng in civil engineering; ECSA accreditation.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) with ECSA in good standing.
• Ten years of post-graduate civil engineering experience, with at least three years since Pr Eng.
• Valid SA driver's license and willingness to travel to site.
• Civil design and site delivery on utility-scale renewable energy projects; solar PV preferred.
• Stormwater, drainage and flood hydrology design; gravel road design with imported layerworks.
• Geotechnical engineering in sands; driven pile foundations and pull-out testing.
• Foundation and structural design for substations, equipment and small buildings.
• Review of contractor design and temporary works under FIDIC/NEC/GCC.

Responsabilidades

• Act as civil engineering authority for the plant and sign as Pr Eng for civil, geotechnical, hydrological and structural design.
• Manage surveys and studies and translate results into design parameters.
• Design/approve roads, drainage, earthworks, platforms, cable trenches, foundations and O&M campus buildings per SA standards.
• Set driven pile design embedment, tolerances and corrosion protection.
• Develop measures for wind-blown sand, dust, erosion and excavation stability.
• Source and approve road/construction materials with testing to support them.
• Direct in-house design team and review contractor civil design and temporary works.
• Provide input to water use, waste, mining, building and transport approvals; own quantities and specs.
• Support site teams at engineering hold points and hand over civil as-built records.

Western Cape, Cape TownCIVIL ENGINEER (PR ENG) - UTILITY-SCALE SOLAR PV - CAPE TOWN Responsibilities:

• Act as the civil engineering authority for the plant, own the civil design basis, and sign as Pr Eng for the civil, geotechnical, hydrological and structural design.
• Manage surveys and studies (topographic survey, geotechnical investigation, hydrology and flood lines, pile pull-out testing) and turn the results into design parameters.
• Design or approve the roads, drainage and stormwater, earthworks, platforms, laydowns, cable trenches, equipment foundations, fencing and O&M campus buildings, to South African standards.
• Set the driven pile design: embedment, tolerances, refusal protocol and corrosion protection.
• Develop practical measures for wind-blown sand, dust, erosion and excavation stability in non-cohesive sand.
• Source and approve road and construction materials, including alternative materials, with the testing to support them.
• Direct the in-house design team and specialist consultants, and review contractor civil design, materials and temporary works.
• Provide the engineering input to water use, waste, mining, building and transport approvals, and own civil quantities, specifications and technical bid evaluations.
• Support site teams at engineering hold points and hand over a complete civil as-built record and maintenance requirements for operations.

Requirements:

• BSc (Eng) or BEng in civil engineering, or an equivalent qualification accredited by the Engineering Council of South Africa.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) with the Engineering Council of South Africa, in good standing.
• At least ten years of post graduate civil engineering experience, with at least three years since Pr Eng registration.
• A valid South African's driver licence and willingness to travel to site regularly.
• Civil design and site delivery on utility-scale renewable energy projects, solar PV preferred.
• Stormwater, drainage and flood hydrology design, and gravel road design with imported layerworks.
• Geotechnical engineering in sands, including driven pile foundations and pull-out testing.
• Foundation and structural design for substations, equipment and small buildings.
• Review of contractor design and temporary works under FIDIC, NEC or GCC conditions.
• Work on the West Coast or on environmentally constrained sites is a strong advantage.
• SAICE membership and a postgraduate qualification are welcome.
