Job summary

Optix Africa is seeking a Junior Industrial Engineer to apply process analysis and improvement principles across IT and GRC operations in South Africa, the UK, and Australia. The role involves mapping workflows, identifying bottlenecks, and designing scalable changes to ensure audit readiness for ISO 27001 and SOC 2.

You will collaborate with Technology, Operations, Finance, and HR to gather requirements, drive adoption, and support internal and external audits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (BEng or BSc) in Industrial Engineering or closely related field.
• ECSA Candidate Engineer registration is advantageous.
• Lean Six Sigma Yellow/Green Belt is advantageous.
• ITIL Foundation is advantageous.
• ISO 27001 Foundation certification is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Map current IT and GRC processes using BPMN or swimlane diagrams and design efficient future-state workflows.
• Plan and execute Lean/Six Sigma improvement initiatives to automate tasks and reduce cycle times.
• Define KPIs, analyze data, and build dashboards for the IT GRC Manager and CTO.
• Develop SOPs, work instructions, and checklists aligned with ISO 27001, SOC 2, POPIA, and GDPR for audits.
• Collaborate with Technology, Operations, Finance, and HR to gather requirements and drive change adoption.

The role involves mapping workflows, identifying bottlenecks and control gaps, designing scalable improvements, and ensuring audit readiness for standards like ISO 27001 and SOC 2.

Responsibilities

• Process Analysis & Mapping: Map current-state IT and GRC processes (user onboarding, access management, change management, audit evidence collection) using BPMN or swimlane diagrams and design efficient future-state workflows.
• Continuous Improvement: Plan and execute improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and root cause analysis techniques to automate repetitive tasks and reduce cycle times.
• Performance Measurement & Reporting: Define and maintain KPIs, analyze operational data, and build dashboards for the IT GRC Manager and CTO.
• Standardization & Compliance Support: Develop SOPs, work instructions, and checklists aligned with ISO 27001, SOC 2, POPIA, and GDPR requirements to support internal and external audits.
• Collaboration: Work across Technology, Operations, Finance, and HR to gather requirements, facilitate workshops, and drive change adoption.

Qualifications

• Essential: Bachelor's degree (BEng or BSc) in Industrial Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline
• Advantageous: ECSA Candidate Engineer registration, Lean Six Sigma Yellow/Green Belt, ITIL Foundation, or ISO 27001 Foundation certification
