Job summary

Entelect in Johannesburg seeks a Java Technical Lead to drive delivery of web and mobile applications for top South African organisations. You’ll mentor teams, shape technical strategy, and steer complex projects from design through estimation, ensuring clean code and robust architectures.

You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams, champion best practices, and engage customers to translate needs into scalable solutions.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in IT, Engineering, or related fields.
Minimum 6 years’ experience as a software engineer in an enterprise environment.
Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals and clean-code practices.
Broad and deep technical knowledge across multiple technologies.
Ability to design and architect enterprise applications.
Mastery of various technologies with agility to adapt to new frameworks.
Strong collaboration and communication skills with drive for continual improvement.
Hybrid working: work from the office 2-3 days per week.

Responsibilities

Develop world-class web and mobile applications for leading organisations in South Africa.
Advise on when to use certain technology frameworks and their trade-offs.
Participate in SDLC stages from design to estimation.
Research and apply innovative technologies to projects.
Demonstrate leadership, mentor teammates and drive technical excellence.
Lead technical decision-making within the team.
Build strong relationships with customers and understand their needs.
Ensure data security and regulatory compliance within projects.
