Job summary

Glacier by Sanlam is seeking an IT Support Engineer to ensure compliant IT activities and provide 1st line support for GPA applications. You will coordinate changes, liaise with stakeholders, and resolve incidents while maintaining security controls and access management.

The role requires a degree or diploma in Computer Science, 3–5 years in financial services IT, and strong SQL scripting, cloud platform knowledge, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Apply critical thinking, design thinking and problem-solving skills to solve technical problems on existing applications.
• Provide efficient and effective 1st line support on GPA applications.
• Schedule and oversee planned application changes. Present planned changes to the Change Advisory Board (CAB) ensuring governance and controls are adhered to.
• Coordinate & communicate across Tribes & Squads (all businesses) to successfully complete application Changes.
• Act as a liaison between business stakeholders and customers, external solution providers, and IT stakeholders for application support specific requirements.
• Help diagnose problems and resolve incidents / issues related to applications.
• Ensure 100% compliance to the documented Logical Access Management (LAM).
• Perform provisioning of system access as per Group Policies and Procedures adhering to agreed service levels.
• Validate the known error database for application-related entries.

Job purpose

The primary purpose of the IT Support Engineer is to ensure that all IT activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise-Wide Risk Management Framework and Glacier Policies and Policy Standards Understanding and managing risks and risk events (incidents) relevant to the role.

Qualifications and experience

• Degree/Diploma- in Computer Science or related qualification
• 3 – 5 Years IT related experience in Financial Services
• Knowledge of scripting languages like SQL
