Job summary

Glacier by Sanlam in Cape Town seeks a Junior Business Development Manager to prospect, source, develop and maintain a specialised Investment Intermediary portfolio, growing Sanlam Group’s market share of retail investment business from this channel, while delivering on Glacier's distribution strategy.

You will work with Intermediaries and internal teams to provide technical investment support, training, and effective client service, building successful relationships through strong sales results

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma with 4 to 6 years related experience.
• Financial distribution experience preferred.
• CFP advantageous.
• Valid driver’s license and own vehicle.

What will you do?

Job Purpose

The Junior Business Development Manager will be responsible for prospecting, sourcing, developing, and maintaining a specialised Investment Intermediary portfolio, and developing and/or increasing Sanlam Group’s market share of retail investment business from this portfolio, whilst delivering on the Glacier Distribution and Sales Strategy. The role is based in Cape Town.

Key Outcomes

The following outcomes will be expected to be achieved by the Junior Business Development Manager:

Targets and inflows

• Serve an existing Intermediary Glacier supporting client base
• Source and introduce new Intermediaries to Glacier
• Attract new business and increase retention of existing investment business
• Ensure that profitable annual sales volumes and monthly targets are met by directly and actively growing and managing an Intermediary Portfolio
• Ensure intermediaries adherence to all regulatory requirements (e.g. FAIS, FICA)
• Co‑ordinate and maintain effective SLAs with all relevant stakeholders (internal and external)

Growing the business

• Support and implement the regional business plan for Glacier (sales volumes, investment education and training, marketing and client services – administration)
• Supporting and enhancing an Intermediary support model to facilitate effective and efficient support between the Distribution Channels, the Adviser / Broker and the various Sanlam Group product providers

Knowledge and education

• Train and develop the Intermediary’s and Intermediary’s support staff
• Train and facilitate the use of Glacier’s digital strategy/tools such as the Web and Investment Hub.
• Supply accurate investment, product, fund, services and investor information
• Facilitate or identify Intermediary needs – technology, reporting and developing a profitable practice

Marketing and Sales initiatives

• Support investment projects and campaigns (marketing support)
• Participate in investment product implementation (presentations, product development & client service support)

Qualifications And Experience

• Relevant financial / investment qualification (Financial tertiary qualification is recommended)
• CFP is advantageous
• At least 5 years’ experience in a financial distribution environment (Linked Service Provider and/or Investment Management Company is recommended) in a similar role
• Supporting and developing of intermediary (Sanlam Advisers and IFA) practices
• Proven Sales related success and track record
• Technical knowledge about retail investments, retail investment industry
• Valid drivers’ license and own reliable vehicle
