Job summary

Sanlam is seeking an IT Governance professional to lead adherence to Group IT Governance standards, drive policy adoption and oversee risk and compliance across IT. The role includes governance reporting, audit support, and regulatory coordination within a South African financial services context.

The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years in technology control environments and relevant qualifications in IT governance, risk management or compliance, with strong communication and analytical skills.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualification in Information Systems, IT Governance, Risk management, Internal Audit or Compliance is required.
• Experience in IT governance, risk and compliance disciplines is expected.
• Ability to translate governance requirements into practical tracking and reporting activities.

Responsibilities

• Ensure cluster adherence to Group IT Governance standards and drive adoption of Group governance policies.
• Facilitate governance self-assessments, gap analysis and implementation plans.
• Develop, review, communicate, roll out and maintain supplementary IT policies, standards, procedures and governance artefacts aligned with Group requirements and regulatory expectations.
• Keep the CIO, IT Senior Managers and IT Leadership informed of governance activities, policies, risks and decisions.
• Support governance reporting on information security, operational resilience, technology risk, policy compliance and control effectiveness.
• Maintain IT Risk Register, including risk identification, assessment, escalation, treatment tracking and management review.
• Monitor adherence to governance standards and elevate significant non-compliance, control weaknesses, overdue actions and emerging risks.
• Facilitate internal and external IT audit execution and track remediation actions.
• Collaborate with Regulatory and IT delivery teams to strengthen governance outcomes.
