Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Irrigation Systems Technician to join our client in Upington. The role focuses on installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of drip, sprinkler, and pivot irrigation systems across large agricultural holdings.

The ideal candidate has a mechanical and electrical aptitude, understands water management, and a practical, hands-on approach. This is a field-based role supporting productive farming regions with reliable water systems.

Qualifications

• Technical qualification or certification in Mechanical Fitting, Electrical Engineering, or a related trade.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair a variety of irrigation systems including pumps, pipes, valves and controllers.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot system malfunctions, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
• Perform regular inspections of irrigation infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and prevent failures.
• Calibrate irrigation controllers and sensors to ensure precise water application.
• Assist in the design and layout of new irrigation systems based on field topography and crop requirements.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs and system performance.
