Placements24 is seeking a skilled Irrigation Systems Technician to join their team in Bloemfontein. You will install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair drip, sprinkler, and center pivot systems across large agricultural properties.

A strong understanding of water management and the ability to work outdoors are essential for optimal crop health and yield. The role requires reading technical diagrams, performing preventative maintenance, and coordinating with farm teams.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an Irrigation Technician or in a similar maintenance role within agriculture.
• Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with experience in plumbing and system repair.
• Familiarity with drip, sprinkler, and center pivot irrigation technologies.
• Ability to read and understand technical diagrams and specifications.
• Good physical condition and willingness to work outdoors in varying weather.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair irrigation systems (pumps, valves, pipelines, sprinklers).
• Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions to identify root causes.
• Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on irrigation equipment.
• Manage water resources to optimize application and minimize waste.
• Read blueprints, schematics, and manuals for installation and repairs.
• Operate and maintain farm machinery and tools for irrigation upkeep.
• Keep accurate records of maintenance activities and system performance.
