Placements24 seeks an Agricultural Engineer specialized in irrigation to join our Pretoria team. You will design, implement, and optimize water management solutions for large-scale farming, ensuring efficient water use and sustainable practices.

Collaborating with farm managers and agronomists, you will tackle water scarcity challenges, oversee installations, and contribute to environmentally sound irrigation technologies across diverse climatic conditions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Agricultural Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years experience in designing and managing agricultural irrigation systems.
• Knowledge of hydraulic principles, water flow dynamics, and irrigation scheduling software.
• Familiarity with water resource management policies in South Africa.
• Strong project management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, plan, and oversee installation of efficient irrigation systems (drip, sprinkler, center pivot).
• Conduct site assessments and analyze water resources to develop tailored irrigation strategies.
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and recommend upgrades for efficiency.
• Develop and manage water management plans in compliance with environmental regulations.
• Provide technical training and support to farm personnel on irrigation operation and maintenance.
