Somewhere, a U.S.-based investment firm, is seeking a Financial Controller to own the accounting close and deliver investor-ready financials across multiple entities. This is a hands-on role focused on month- and quarter-end close, financial statement prep, and reporting, with emphasis on accuracy and speed.

The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, solid U.S. GAAP knowledge, and exceptional Excel skills.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with full-cycle close ownership.
• Strong command of U.S. GAAP and financial statement prep.
• Advanced Excel; comfortable with large, imperfect data sets.
• Track record of clean, audit-ready work products.
• Near-native written and spoken English suitable for investor-facing communication.
• High organization and ability to manage multiple entities and deadlines independently.

Responsibilities

• Own the full month-end and quarter-end close across multiple entities.
• Prepare complete, accurate financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow).
• Deliver reporting packages on schedule with minimal revision.
• Maintain books across operating entities and investment funds; support consolidation and intercompany transactions.
• Assist with fund-level reporting and investor allocations as needed.
• Account for e-commerce activity, settlements, fees, and inventory/COGS; monitor margins.
• Partner with operations to keep financial data clean at the source.
• Produce polished investor-facing reporting and supporting schedules; respond to CFO and investor requests promptly.
• Own reconciliations across bank, credit, and marketplace accounts; oversee AP/AR and cash reporting.
