Responsibilities

• Customs Clearing & Compliance: Process accurate customs entries, audit tariff classifications, and ensure SARS regulations and documentation requirements.
• Procurement & Purchase Orders: Generate, issue, and track purchase orders from placement to delivery with focus on Chinese suppliers.
• Freight & Logistics Management: Track sea and air freight, work with freight forwarders, resolve delays to maintain continuity.
• Incoterms & Costing: Apply Incoterms to negotiate shipping terms, calculate landed costs, optimize logistics expenses.
• Documentation & Audit: Maintain records of bills of lading, invoices, packing lists, and customs docs for audits.

A leading FMCG and home appliance distributor in South Africa is seeking an experienced International Purchasing and Customs Entry Clerk to join their dynamic team. This role focuses on managing end-to-end import operations, strictly maintaining compliance with South African Revenue Service (SARS) regulations, and coordinating directly with international manufacturers.

Key Responsibilities - Non-negotiable

• Customs Clearing & Compliance: Process accurate customs entries, audit tariff classifications, and ensure full alignment with SARS customs regulations and documentation requirements.
• Procurement & Purchase Orders: Generate, issue, and track purchase orders from initial placement through to delivery, with a heavy focus on managing relations and logistics with Chinese suppliers.
• Freight & Logistics Management: Track incoming sea and air freight shipments, collaborate with freight forwarders, and resolve transit delays to maintain supply chain continuity.
• Incoterms & Costing: Apply appropriate Incoterms (e.g., FOB, CIF, DDP) to negotiate shipping terms, calculate landed costs, and optimize international logistics expenses.
• Documentation & Audit: Maintain thorough records of bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, and customs documentation for internal and external auditing.
