Job summary

TenacIT Solutions is seeking an intermediate server engineer in South Africa to build, maintain, and troubleshoot our growing co-lo and cloud infrastructure. You will work with a team of experienced engineers to ensure high performance and reliability, while taking ownership of escalating issues and driving projects to completion.

The role emphasizes a learning mindset, end-to-end system monitoring, disaster recovery testing, and after-hours support rotation.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years Windows Server experience
• 3-5 years Active Directory management experience
• Microsoft Exchange exposure
• Good understanding of hypervisor virtualisation
• 3-5 years RDS Server experience
• RMM tool exposure (ConnectWise Automate beneficial)
• Exposure to VMware and virtual environments advantageous
• Exposure to SQL environments would be beneficial

Responsibilities

• Monitor service dashboards and escalate to tier 2/3 technicians during onboarding
• Manage and monitor installed systems
• Test and maintain operating systems
• Monitor application performance
• Monitor backup and replication status

What are we looking for?

• 3 - 5 years Windows Server experience

The NOT-SO-TECHNICAL requirements:

• This is a fast-paced role, which will suit engineer(s) who are meticulous, self-starters who can take ownership of a task and are confident in seeing a project through to completion.

What will the job consist of:

• The initial role will comprise of monitoring of service dashboards and escalation to tier 2/3 technicians, whilst in the onboarding phase. More responsibility will be placed on the technician once they have proven their knowledge of the required skills. The job role will include but won't be limited to:
• Manage and monitor installed systems
• Test and maintain operating systems
• Monitor application performance
• Monitor backup and replication status
• Test and maintain disaster recovery plans
• The job includes being part of a rotating after-hours support schedule

Minimum requirements:

• Hold a relevant university degree or diploma.
• Some form of related training to the experience fields listed above
• Have 3 years of dedicated server experience.
