The role requires extensive Java/JEE experience, build tool proficiency, and strong SQL/XML skills to support integrations and testing across multiple projects.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years' experience on Java 7 and JEE (Servlets, JSP, EJB, REST and SOAP, JPA/Hibernate), JBOSS, MS SQL Server.
• 3–5 years' working experience with build tools Maven & ANT.
• 2 years' working experience using XML, LDAP, and design tools such as XDE.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement high‑quality, maintainable Java applications per functional specs.
• Test, fix defects, and release Java applications in line with SDLC standards.

Reporting to the Senior Manager: Development, the role will be responsible for designing and implementing according to functional specification executable source code of high quality, maintainability and efficiency in alignment to the development standards.

Responsible to test, fix defects and release Java applications as per the defined architectural and design standard as well as developing data-rich applications within a Scrum development framework.

Key Accountabilities

1. Engage in technical scoping sessions with a clear mandate of defining and agreeing the technology, design & tools.
2. Produce working implementation (code) from functional / technical documents like a functional specification.
3. Ensure appropriate use of tools and applications that support the development process and SDLC.
4. Interact and maintain good relationships with business stakeholders (business users, project management resources, testing and training teams).
5. Performance Management - Engage with leadership.
6. Engage leadership and take initiative around career growth & training.
7. Software Development and Testing.
8. Database administration & manipulation to create SQL statements, etc.
9. Unit testing.
10. Integration testing of code.
11. Demonstrate knowledge of best practices and project standards for coding.

Education:

1. Matric.
2. B.Comm, B.Eng, BSC Eng, BSC Informatics or related degree/diploma.
3. Linux operating environment is an advantage.
4. Web: HTML, HTML5, XML, CSS is advantageous.

Experience:
