Job summary

The CSIR has a vacancy for Instrumentation Technician in the Mining Testing and Training group within the Mining cluster. The incumbent will ensure that instrumentation is procured, stored, maintained, repaired, calibrated, and replaced as required in support of operational readiness in the Kloppersbos facility and the Cottesloe mining testing laboratories.

This position is based in Cottesloe and Kloppersbos.

Qualifications

• Strong communication, both verbal and written, is essential.
• Proven planning and organizing abilities for laboratory and field work.
• Solid mathematical skills for data analysis and calibration checks.
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and electronic systems.

Responsibilities

• Maintain calibration of measurement instruments and calibration schedule.
• Procure instrumentation, consumables and measurement instruments as required.
• Develop test and measurement methods for test projects and routine testing.
• Install, set-up and commission instrumentation at lab and test facilities.
• Perform data recording, data integrity checks, fault finding and post-processing.
