Placements24 in Upington, Northern Cape, is seeking an Instrumentation Technician to calibrate, maintain and repair instrumentation across process control systems. You will read P&IDs and schematics, troubleshoot faults, and ensure safety compliance in an industrial setting.

You will collaborate with operations and engineering to optimise process performance, maintain records, and respond to urgent instrument issues, with shift work and overtime as required to support plant operations.

Qualifications

• Experience as Instrumentation Technician in an industrial environment (e.g., chemical processing, manufacturing, mining).
• Solid understanding of process control, instrumentation and calibration techniques.
• Ability to read P&IDs, electrical schematics and instrument loop diagrams.
• Willingness to work shifts and adhere to safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Calibrate, maintain, install, and repair a range of industrial instruments and control systems.
• Troubleshoot instrument malfunctions and control loop issues.
• Perform routine checks and preventative maintenance for accuracy and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• Proven experience as an Instrumentation Technician in an industrial environment (e.g., chemical processing, manufacturing, mining).
• Strong understanding of process control principles, instrumentation, and calibration techniques.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting P&IDs, electrical schematics, and instrument loop diagrams.
• Experience with a range of instrumentation hardware and software.
• Familiarity with safety procedures relevant to industrial instrumentation work.
• Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to work independently and manage tasks effectively.
• Willingness to work shifts and overtime as required to support plant operations in Upington .
