Placements24 seeks an experienced Industrial Instrumentation Technician for a Paarl-based facility. You will install, calibrate, test, and maintain a range of instruments (pressure, temp, flow, level) and troubleshoot system faults to ensure safe, reliable plant operation.

Requirements include a trade qualification in instrumentation or related field, 5+ years of experience, and proficiency with P&IDs, DCS/PLC, and calibration tools. Valid driver’s license required.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, calibrate, test, and maintain a wide range of industrial instruments, including pressure, temperature, flow, and level transmitters.
• Troubleshoot and repair instrumentation and control system faults, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
• Work with various types of control valves, actuators, and associated instrumentation.
• Interpret P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), electrical schematics, and technical manuals.
• Perform calibration using HART communicators and other calibration tools, ensuring adherence to standards.
• Maintain comprehensive records of all instrumentation activities, including calibration certificates and repair logs.
• Ensure all work complies with strict safety regulations and company policies.
• Collaborate effectively with process engineers, operators, and maintenance teams.
• Participate in hazard analyses and contribute to safety improvement initiatives.
• Assist in the implementation and commissioning of new instrumentation and control systems.

Requirements

• Trade qualification in Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Industrial Instrumentation Technician.
• Proven experience with the calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of industrial instruments.
• Strong knowledge of process control principles, DCS, and PLC systems.
• Proficiency with calibration equipment (e.g., Fluke calibrators, HART communicators).
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs and electrical schematics.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a methodical approach to tasks.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively within the Paarl operational environment.
• Valid driver's license.
