Job summary

Placements24 in Soweto, Gauteng, seeks an experienced Instrumentation and Control Engineer to design, implement, calibrate and maintain advanced process instrumentation and control systems in a demanding industrial environment.

You will develop control strategies, configure PLCs and DCS, read P&IDs, and ensure safe, reliable operation while supporting commissioning and optimisation across manufacturing lines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years in instrumentation and control engineering in an industrial setting.
• Strong understanding of process control principles and instrumentation technologies.

Responsibilities

• Design, select, and specify instrumentation for process measurement and control (temperature, pressure, flow, level).
• Develop and implement control strategies using PLCs, DCS, and other automation platforms.
• Configure, calibrate, and troubleshoot process instruments and control loops.
• Maintain instrumentation documentation (P&IDs, loop diagrams, wiring schedules).
• Implement and maintain industrial networks (HART, Fieldbus, Modbus).
• Perform root cause analysis for instrumentation and control system failures.
• Collaborate with process engineers and operations to optimize performance.
