Transnet SOC Ltd invites applications for the MC&I Mechanician responsible for maintenance, fault finding and repair of instrumentation, metering and control equipment in hazardous locations to ensure safe custody transfer of petroleum products. The role includes minor installations and adherence to Transnet Pipelines policies.

The candidate should have an apprenticeship in process instrumentation with 3 years on-the-job experience or an N3 TVET qualification with 4 years of instrumentation

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship in process instrumentation completed with a minimum of 3 years on-the-job experience in instrumentation.
• N3 TVET qualification in process instrumentation with related training and 4 years on-the-job experience in instrumentation environment.

Responsabilités

• Routine maintenance to ensure optimal availability of equipment.
• Fault finding and repair of the pipeline instrumentation and control systems.
• Administration through SAP Plant Maintenance to record maintenance information.
• Small projects and minor installations to standard and work instructions.
• Maintenance contract supervision to ensure conformance to requirements and standards.
• Adhere to safety policies and procedures to protect self, environment and others.

Description du poste

The MC&I Mechanician is responsible for maintenance, fault-finding and repair of all instrumentation, metering/measurement, and control equipment in accordance with Transnet Pipelines policies and procedures and to International Standards, in classified hazardous locations and potentially explosive atmospheres to ensure safe, efficient and effective custody transfer and transportation of petroleum products. The MC&I Mechanician Is also responsible for minor installation of MC&I equipment.

Position Outputs

1. Routine maintenance-ensuring optimal availability of equipment
2. Fault finding-to perform effective repair to the pipeline infrastructure
3. Administration-SAPPM-record information, obtain information regarding maintenance
4. Small projects and minor installations-to standard and according to work instruction
5. Maintenance contract-supervise and manage process to ensure conformance to requirement and standards
6. Safety-perform work safely to protect self, the environment, and others from harm
7. Adhere to policies, procedures and work instructions-ensure uniformity and consistency

Qualifications and Experience

Successfully completed apprenticeship (3 years) in process Instrumentation and 3 years on the job experience in an instrumentation environment OR a formal technical qualification (minimum N3 at a TVET) in process instrumentation with related training and 4 years on the job experience in an instrumentation environment and relevant training in the following fields.
