Job summary

Transnet Pipelines is seeking an Instrument Mechanician to maintain and fault-find instrumentation, metering and control equipment in hazardous locations, ensuring safe custody transfer of petroleum products. The role includes minor installations and compliance with international standards.

The ideal candidate has an apprenticeship in process instrumentation or a formal N3 TVET qualification with several years of on-the-job experience in instrumentation environments.

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship in process instrumentation completed with relevant on-the-job training.
• Formal technical qualification (N3) in process instrumentation with related training.

Responsibilities

• Routine maintenance to ensure optimal availability of instrumentation and metering equipment.
• Fault finding and repair of pipeline instrumentation systems and control equipment.
• SAP Plant Maintenance record-keeping and information retrieval for maintenance.
• Assist small projects and minor installations per work instructions.
• Supervise maintenance contracts to ensure conformance to standards.
• Adhere to safety policies to protect people and environment.
• Follow established procedures for uniformity and consistency.
