Southwest ISD is seeking a dedicated paraprofessional to support classroom instruction and help students achieve learning objectives. You will assist the teacher in organizing activities and ensuring a smooth classroom environment.
Responsibilities include working with individuals or small groups, reading aloud with students, and monitoring behavior and attendance. Strong communication skills and confidentiality are essential in this role.
To assist the classroom teacher in achieving teaching objectives by working with individual students or small groups to help them achieve the skill levels of the class as a whole. To provide a well‑organized, smoothly functioning class environment in which students can take full advantage of the instructional program and available resource materials.
Experience working successfully with children (preferred)
None.
Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
Posture: Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling
Motion: Repetitive hand motions and reaching
Lifting: May be required to lift and position students with physical disabilities; occasional light lifting and carrying (up to 40+ lbs.)
Mental Demands: Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written, ability to read selected instructional material instructions; ability to maintain emotional control under stress; patience and tolerance
