Placements24 is seeking an Installation Technician for hybrid work in the Cape Town region. You will perform on-site installations, configuring and testing telecom equipment, and resolving issues to meet customer requirements.

The role requires hands-on technical skills, reliability, and the ability to travel to client sites across Western Cape. Training and ongoing support are provided in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

About the Role

Our client, a leading provider of telecommunications equipment and services based in Cape Town, Western Cape, ZA , is looking for a dedicated and skilled Installation Technician. This role is essential for ensuring the successful and timely installation of our client's products and systems at customer sites. You will be responsible for performing hands‑on installation, configuration, testing, and troubleshooting of hardware and software components. The ideal candidate is a practical, hands‑on individual with excellent technical aptitude and strong customer service skills. This position involves a hybrid work model, requiring both on‑site work at client locations across the region and some remote administrative tasks. You will play a critical part in delivering exceptional service and ensuring customer satisfaction with our client's offerings.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform professional installations of telecommunications equipment, including cabling, wiring, and component setup.
• Configure and test installed systems to ensure they meet technical specifications and operational requirements.
• Troubleshoot and resolve installation‑related issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
• Conduct site surveys to assess installation requirements and identify potential challenges.
• Provide clear and concise technical support to customers during and after the installation process.
• Maintain detailed records of installations, service calls, and equipment inventory.
• Adhere to all safety regulations and company procedures during on‑site work.
• Collaborate with the support and engineering teams to provide feedback on product performance and installation processes.
• Ensure all installations are completed efficiently and to the highest quality standards.

Requirements

• Proven experience as an installation technician or in a similar technical field (e.g., electrical, IT, telecommunications).
• Strong understanding of hardware installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency with hand and power tools, and experience working with various types of cabling and connectors.
• Familiarity with basic networking concepts and IT infrastructure is a plus.
• Excellent problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Strong customer service orientation and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites within the Cape Town, Western Cape, ZA region and occasionally beyond.
• A valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications are an advantage.
