About the Role

Our client, a leading manufacturer of specialized industrial equipment based in Sandton, Gauteng , is seeking a highly skilled Installation and Commissioning Engineer. This role is pivotal in ensuring that newly manufactured equipment is correctly installed, tested, and operational at client sites. The successful candidate will travel to customer locations to oversee and execute the installation process, perform rigorous testing, and provide initial training to client personnel. You will require a strong technical background in mechanical and electrical systems, coupled with excellent problem-solving abilities and a customer-centric approach. This position demands meticulous attention to detail, the ability to interpret complex engineering documentation, and the capability to work autonomously or as part of a project team. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and execute the installation of industrial equipment at client premises according to technical specifications.
• Perform comprehensive commissioning tests to verify equipment functionality, performance, and safety.
• Diagnose and resolve any installation-related issues or equipment malfunctions.
• Read and interpret detailed engineering drawings, schematics, and installation manuals.
• Provide on-site training and technical support to client operators and maintenance staff.
• Collaborate with the sales and engineering departments to ensure smooth project handover.
• Maintain accurate records of installation progress, test results, and any modifications made.
• Ensure adherence to all safety regulations and site‑specific requirements during installation.
• Travel to various client locations as required for installation and commissioning activities.
• Prepare detailed commissioning reports for management and clients.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• A minimum of 4 years of experience in the installation and commissioning of industrial machinery or complex technical systems.
• Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, with the ability to troubleshoot intricate systems.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, P&IDs, and electrical schematics.
• Experience with control systems and automation technologies is advantageous.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a methodical approach to diagnostics.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for client interaction and training.
• Ability to work independently, manage project timelines, and adapt to changing site conditions.
• Valid driver's license and a valid passport for potential international travel.
• Willingness to travel frequently and work flexible hours.
