Job summary

Placements24 on behalf of a leading manufacturing company in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga, seeks an Information Security Engineer to implement and maintain security infrastructure protecting networks, systems and data from cyber threats. The role is hybrid with office work in Nelspruit and partial remote flexibility.

The ideal candidate will have 4+ years of hands-on information security experience, proficiency with firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, endpoint protection and SIEM.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in CS/IT/Cybersecurity.
• Minimum 4 years hands-on information security engineering experience.
• Proficiency with firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs and endpoint security.
• Experience with SIEM for log analysis and event correlation.
• Scripting abilities (Python or PowerShell) are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, configure, and manage security solutions (firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, endpoint protection).

About the Role

Our client, a leading manufacturing company in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga , is seeking a skilled Information Security Engineer to enhance and maintain their security infrastructure. This role focuses on the technical implementation and management of security solutions designed to protect the organization's networks, systems, and data from cyber threats. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with various security technologies, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, and SIEM solutions. This is a hybrid position, offering the flexibility to work partially from home and partially from our Nelspruit office. You will collaborate with IT teams to design, deploy, and manage security controls, ensuring they are effective and up-to-date. The position requires a strong technical aptitude, a proactive approach to security, and excellent problem-solving skills. You will play a critical role in defending the company's digital assets in the diverse industrial landscape of Mpumalanga .

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• Experience with SIEM tools for log analysis and event correlation.
• Understanding of network protocols, operating systems, and common security vulnerabilities.
• Scripting skills (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation are a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CCNA Security, or CEH are desirable.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid model, including regular attendance at our Nelspruit office.
