Placements24 is seeking an Information Security Analyst specializing in Threat Intelligence to join our on-site team in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga. The role focuses on gathering, analyzing, and disseminating threat intel to proactively identify and mitigate cyber threats across a large retail enterprise.

You will monitor sources, develop threat actor profiles, and provide actionable insights to security operations, incident response, and monitoring systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years in cybersecurity, focusing on threat intelligence analysis.
• Knowledge of threat actor motivations and TTPs.
• Experience with TIPs and OSINT gathering techniques.
• Familiarity with SIEM, IDS/IPS, and EDR.
• Strong analytical, research, and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Experience with Python for data analysis.
• Knowledge of geopolitical factors influencing cyber threats.
• Ability to work independently and on-site.

About the Role

Our client, a major player in the retail sector, is seeking a specialized Information Security Analyst focused on Threat Intelligence to join their team in Nelspruit . This role is responsible for gathering, analyzing, and disseminating threat intelligence to proactively identify and mitigate cyber threats targeting the organization. The position is based on-site, offering the opportunity to be an integral part of a dedicated security team within a large enterprise in Mpumalanga . You will monitor various sources for threat data, correlate information, and provide actionable insights to security operations and incident response teams. The ideal candidate has a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and a deep understanding of the threat landscape, including common tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) used by threat actors. Requirements

• Experience with threat intelligence platforms (TIPs) and open-source intelligence (OSINT) gathering techniques.
• Familiarity with security tools such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, and endpoint detection and response (EDR).
• Excellent analytical, research, and critical thinking skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
• Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python) for data analysis is a plus.
• Knowledge of geopolitical factors influencing cyber threats.
