Job summary

Mediclinic Southern Africa is seeking an Industrial Site Base Ambulance Emergency Assistant to attend site-based emergency calls and provide medical care in line with the scope of practice. Appointment is subject to successful completion of a physical fitness and medical assessment.

The role requires essential EMS education, at least 1 year EMS experience, and proficiency in English, with a preference for candidates familiar with HPCSA guidelines and safety regulations.

Qualifications

• ESSENTIAL EDUCATION: Ambulance Emergency Assistant Certificate or Higher certificate in emergency medical care
• DESIRED EDUCATION: Training related to Clinical Practice Guidelines by HPCSA; training during probation if not compliant

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

To attend to site based emergency calls and provide medical care in line with scope of practice.

Appointment for this position is subject to successful completion of physical fitness and medical assessment

REQUIRED EDUCATION

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION: Ambulance Emergency Assistant Certificate or Higher certificate in emergency medical care

DESIRED EDUCATION: Successful completion of training related to Clinical Practice Guidelines published by the Health Professions Council of South Africa will be advantageous. If not compliant with the clinical practice guidelines at the time of application you will be required to complete this training during your probation period if successful in your application.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 1 year EMS experience

DESIRED EXPERIENCE: 1 year ILS experience

REQUIRED JOB SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

• Facilities, travel routes and demographical area
• HPCSA guidelines and scope of practice
• Proficiency in the English language (written and verbal)
• Occupational Health and Safety (OSH Act; Mine Health and Safety Act and risk management)
• Knowledge and application of best practice
