Job summary

Samancor Chrome Ltd. in Limpopo, South Africa, seeks a qualified Millwright to maintain, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and electrical plant equipment for safe, reliable operations.

You will manage maintenance tasks, isolation, and lockout procedures, while ensuring accurate reporting and adherence to SHEQ and IMS standards. The role requires Grade 12/N3, a Millwright Trade Test, and around 3 years’ relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 / N3 or equivalent
• Completed Millwright Trade Test
• Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in industrial maintenance

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of mechanical and electrical plant equipment to ensure safe, reliable operations.
• Record history and complete notifications to required standards.
• Verify Work Orders with correct time and complete details.
• Provide feedback on discrepancies between instructions and job requirements.
• Communicate if spares or equipment are unavailable and inform Maintenance Supervisor.
• Generate Notifications from inspections and follow-up actions.
• Perform isolation and lockout procedures.
• Attend to breakdowns quickly and safely to minimize downtime.
• Capture data related to stoppages to help determine root causes.
• Suggest improvements in how breakdowns are handled to Maintenance Specialist.
• Change out faulty items and create PM orders for stock draws.
• Create reservations for rotable items on PM orders and subsequent notifications.
• Complete all fields on the Damage tag for rotable returns.
• Transport damaged rotables to lay-down area and handle loads using overhead crane and forklift.
• Maintain and repair low and high voltage electrical equipment; perform electrical isolation.
• Planned maintenance on conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, drives; alignment and motor changeovers.
• Assess risk exposures and apply mitigations; comply with SHEQ and IMS reporting requirements.
