Job summary

CFAO South Africa seeks an Industrial Engineering Technician to support productivity and efficiency initiatives across the Toyota Tsusho South Africa Processing division in Prospecton, Durban.

The role involves designing improvements for materials, machines and personnel, developing cost estimates, and assisting operators with new lines. Applicants should have Matric and a National Diploma in Industrial Engineering or related field, plus 1–3 years of project or design experience.

Responsibilities

• Search for continuous improvement and optimization of resources.
• Develop engineering projects and machine improvements.
• Assist with training for new line operators on SQ, Blanking, Shear and Bundle turnover machines.
• Develop cost estimates and submit projects for approval and funding.
• Monitor costs, schedules, and specifications; provide status updates to management.
• Study time, motion, methods, or speed to improve efficiency and establish standard production rate.
• Prepare charts/diagrams to illustrate workflow, routing, layouts, material handling, or machine utilization.
• Revise operational SOPs and participate in Automation (DX) projects.

An exciting opportunity have arisen for a Industrial Engineering Technician to join the above division based at Toyota Tsusho South Africa Processing (PTY) Ltd, Prospecton – Durban (TTSAP Office)

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To assist the Company (TTSAP) with productivity, and efficiency, by helping in the implementation of designs for the Company to be more efficient and effective with materials, machines, and personnel.

• Matric
• National Diploma Industrial Engineering or related qualification
• Minimum 1-3 years’ experience with industrial engineering specially in projects, design.

Required profile:

DELIVERABLES/KPAs

• Search of continuous improvement and optimization of resources
• Responsible for developing engineering projects and machine improvements.
• Provide assistance with the training for new line operators on the SQ, Blanking line, Shear line and Bundle turnover machine.
• Develop cost estimates and submit projects for approval and funding.
• Monitor costs, schedules, budget and specifications on projects and issue status updates to management.
• Study time, motion, methods, or speed involved in maintenance, production, or other operations to establish standard production rate or improve efficiency
• Prepare charts, graphs, or diagrams to illustrate workflow, routing, floor layouts, material handling, or machine utilization
• Revise operational SOP’s
• Participation in Automation (DX) projects for the facility.

COMPETENCIES/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

• Advanced level of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Proven competency working with CAD type software (E.g. Visio, AutoCAD)
