About the Role

Our client, a leading manufacturer in the Nelspruit, Mpumalanga, ZA region, is looking for a talented Industrial Engineer to optimize their complex supply chain and logistics operations. This hybrid role requires a strategic thinker who can balance on-site analysis with remote data modeling and planning. You will play a pivotal role in enhancing efficiency, reducing costs, and ensuring the smooth flow of materials and products throughout the entire supply chain. The successful candidate will work closely with procurement, production, and distribution teams to implement innovative solutions and drive continuous improvement initiatives. You will be responsible for designing and improving processes that directly affect the speed, cost, and reliability of our client's logistics network.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage efficient logistics and supply chain processes for the Nelspruit, Mpumalanga, ZA operations.
• Analyze transportation routes, warehouse layouts, and inventory management systems to identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Develop and deploy strategies to improve lead times, reduce transit times, and minimize shipping costs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, warehousing, procurement, and sales to ensure seamless supply chain integration.
• Utilize simulation and modeling tools to test and validate proposed changes before implementation.
• Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for supply chain operations and monitor performance against these metrics.
• Conduct feasibility studies and pilot programs for new logistics technologies and approaches.
• Train operational staff on new processes and best practices related to supply chain management.
• Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations for management on supply chain performance and improvement recommendations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• At least 4 years of experience in industrial engineering with a specific focus on supply chain and logistics optimization.
• Strong understanding of warehouse management systems (WMS), transportation management systems (TMS), and inventory control principles.
• Proficiency in data analysis, statistical modeling, and process simulation software.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to identify and resolve complex supply chain challenges.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
• Experience in a hybrid work environment, balancing remote analysis with on-site operational engagement.
• Knowledge of Lean principles and their application in logistics is advantageous.
