Job summary

Placements24 in East London, Eastern Cape, seeks an Industrial Electrical Maintenance Technician to keep production machinery running. You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose faults, install and test equipment, and support safety and reliability initiatives.

The ideal candidate holds a National Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current), has at least four years of industrial experience, and can read schematics. PLC familiarity is a plus, and willingness to shift or be on call.

Qualifications

• National Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current) or equivalent trade qualification.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience as an Industrial Electrical Maintenance Technician.
• Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, including power distribution, motor controls, VFDs, and control circuits.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and diagrams.
• Experience with troubleshooting electrical faults in manufacturing or industrial environments.
• Familiarity with PLC systems and basic programming logic is highly advantageous.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Willingness to work shifts if required and be available for on-call duties.
• Must be based in or able to commute reliably to East London , Eastern Cape .

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair electrical malfunctions in production machinery, control panels, and plant infrastructure.
• Interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals to troubleshoot and repair systems.
• Respond promptly to electrical breakdowns and emergencies to minimize production downtime.
• Install, test, and commission new electrical equipment and systems.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities performed.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and company policies.
• Assist with the calibration and testing of electrical instruments and control devices.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to electrical maintenance and plant reliability.
• Work collaboratively with production and engineering teams to identify and resolve electrical issues.
