Job summary

Placements24 is recruiting an experienced Industrial Automation Specialist for a hybrid role in Randburg, Gauteng. You will design, program, and commission PLC-based control systems for industrial machinery, develop operator HMIs, and integrate equipment across sites.

You will troubleshoot remotely and on-site, work with Modbus/Profibus networks, and ensure safety standards are followed. Travel to client sites is expected as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics.
• Proven experience in industrial automation and PLC programming.
• Strong understanding of sensors, actuators, and control systems.
• Experience with industrial networks and protocols (Modbus, Profibus).
• Ability to read electrical schematics and P&ID diagrams.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and remote collaboration abilities.

Responsibilities

• Design, program, and commission PLC-based control systems for industrial machinery.
• Develop and configure HMI screens for operator interface and system monitoring.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues with automated systems, both on-site and remotely.
• Integrate various industrial equipment and systems using standard communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Profibus).
• Perform system upgrades and modifications to improve performance and reliability.
• Conduct site assessments and recommend automation solutions.
• Develop technical documentation, including control schematics and user manuals.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, production, and maintenance.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations for automated systems.
• Provide training and support to plant personnel on automated systems.
