Job summary

Technology Innovation Agency in Pretoria seeks a Technical Advisor to support the Board Technical Committee with independent, objective advice on technology development and strategic initiatives aligned with TIA’s mandate.

The role focuses on evaluation of risks, technology trends, and potential for commercialisation within funded programmes. A 12-month fixed-term appointment is offered, with renewal at the Board’s discretion.

Qualifications

• At least ten years’ senior-level experience.
• Master’s degree in science, engineering, technology, innovation management, commercialisation or related field.
• Experience serving on a board, advisory panel, investment committee or equivalent governance structure.

Responsibilities

• Attend BTC meetings and provide independent technical advice on policy/strategic level in areas such as advanced technologies and digital transformation.
• Review committee documentation and provide technical commentary on matters referred to the BTC.
• Assess innovation potential, commercialisation readiness, scalability and market relevance.
