Job summary

Placements24 in Mossel Bay seeks a passionate Social Inclusion Officer to champion programs that foster belonging and equity within the community. You will design strategies to reduce barriers to participation for marginalized groups and promote a culture of acceptance across the Western Cape.

The role requires a degree in social sciences or related field, proven advocacy or community development experience, and strong communication, facilitation, and reporting skills.

Qualifications

• Degree in Social Sciences, Community Development, Sociology or related field.
• Proven experience in social work, community development or advocacy roles.
• In-depth understanding of diversity, equity and social inclusion.
• Excellent communication, networking and facilitation skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations and stakeholders.
• Proficiency in research, data collection and report writing.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement initiatives to increase social inclusion for diverse community groups.
• Identify barriers to participation (economic, cultural, physical) and develop strategies to overcome them.
• Collaborate with local organizations, government bodies and community leaders to promote inclusive practices.
• Develop and deliver awareness campaigns on social inclusion and diversity issues.
• Provide support and advocacy for individuals and groups facing exclusion or discrimination.
• Monitor and evaluate inclusion programs and report on outcomes and improvements.
