Placements24 is seeking a diligent Legal Officer to join its in-house legal department in Mahikeng, North West. The role requires handling contracts, compliance, and day-to-day legal support across business units.

You will draft and review commercial agreements, advise on employment and corporate governance, and liaise with external counsel as needed. On-site, full-time position with growth opportunities within the group.

Qualifications

• LLB degree or equivalent.
• Admitted Attorney or Advocate with 2–5 years of post-qualification experience.
• Proven experience in drafting and reviewing commercial contracts.
• Solid understanding of South African corporate law, employment law, and general commercial principles.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, agreements, and legal documentation.
• Provide legal advice and support to various departments on a range of matters including employment law, corporate governance, and compliance.
• Assist in ensuring the company's compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
• Manage and maintain company records, including statutory registers.
• Support the legal department in litigation management and dispute resolution.
• Conduct legal research and prepare legal opinions.
• Assist with corporate secretarial duties as required.
• Review and advise on company policies and procedures.
• Liaise with external counsel when necessary.
