Qualifications

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
• 5–7 years post-admission experience focused on Technology and IP law.
• Experience drafting and negotiating complex tech and IP agreements.
• Strong understanding of patent, trademark, copyright and data privacy laws.
• Experience with SaaS, software licensing, and cloud agreements.

Responsabilités

• Advise on technology transactions including software development, licensing, and SaaS.
• Protect and manage IP portfolio including trademarks, patents, and copyrights.
• Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations (POPIA, GDPR) and advise on data protection strategies.
• Draft, review, and negotiate technology-related contracts and service agreements.
• Support product development, R&D, and commercialization of new technologies.

About the Role

You will provide comprehensive legal guidance on technology-related agreements, software licensing, data privacy, and all aspects of IP protection, including patents, trademarks, and copyrights. Key Responsibilities

• Advise on legal matters related to technology transactions, including software development, licensing, and SaaS agreements.
• Manage and protect the company's intellectual property portfolio, including trademark registration, patent filings, and copyright enforcement.
• Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations (e.g., POPIA, GDPR) and advise on data protection strategies.
• Draft, review, and negotiate various technology-related contracts and service agreements.
• Provide legal support for product development, R&D, and the commercialization of new technologies.
• Conduct IP due diligence for potential acquisitions or partnerships.
• Stay abreast of legal developments in technology, IP, and data privacy law.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including engineering, product management, and marketing teams.

Requirements

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of post-admission experience, with a significant focus on Technology and IP law.
• Proven experience in drafting and negotiating complex technology and IP agreements.
