Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Corporate Lawyer to join its in-house legal team in Sandton, Gauteng. The ideal candidate will handle transactional work, draft and negotiate commercial contracts, and advise on regulatory matters to support the company’s diverse business activities.

You will manage due diligence, corporate structuring, governance, and liaison with external counsel, delivering timely, risk-aware guidance for mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures within a dynamic South

Qualifications

• Admitted Attorney with a minimum of 5 years of relevant post-qualification experience, preferably in corporate or commercial law.
• Strong experience in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
• Solid understanding of South African company law, contract law, and related legislation.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines effectively.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide array of commercial agreements, including service agreements, supply contracts, and partnership deeds.
• Provide legal advice on corporate structuring, governance, and compliance issues.
• Manage legal aspects of various transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures.
• Conduct legal due diligence for proposed transactions.
• Ensure adherence to all applicable laws and regulations.
• Liaise with external counsel and manage legal costs effectively.
• Assist in the development and implementation of internal legal policies and procedures.
• Provide support to business units on day-to-day legal matters.
• Stay updated on legal developments relevant to the company's industry.
