You will lead complex corporate transactions, draft and negotiate commercial agreements, and provide strategic, regulatory, and governance guidance to a diverse client base, from multinationals to local enterprises.

The role requires extensive post-qualification experience in SA corporate law, with a strong M&A and finance emphasis, and a track record of business development.

Qualifications

• Admitted as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
• At least 8 years of post-qualification experience in corporate law, with strong emphasis on M&A and corporate finance.
• Demonstrated expertise in drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts and transaction documents.
• Deep understanding of South African company and securities law and relevant regulatory frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage complex corporate transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and joint ventures.
• Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, ensuring legal and commercial objectives are met.
• Provide strategic legal advice on corporate structuring, governance, and compliance matters.
• Conduct due diligence investigations for transactional work.
• Advise on regulatory compliance, including company law, competition law, and industry-specific regulations.
• Manage client relationships and develop new business opportunities.
• Mentor and supervise junior legal staff.
• Represent clients in corporate litigation and dispute resolution matters when necessary.
