Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly motivated Social Worker to join its Family & Child Protection team in Klerksdorp, North West. This role focuses on safeguarding children, supporting families in crisis, and intervening in cases of abuse or neglect.

You will conduct assessments, develop intervention plans, provide counselling, and collaborate with stakeholders, including law enforcement, schools and healthcare services.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work (BSW or MSW) is essential.
• Registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP).
• Proven experience in child protection, family support, or related social work fields.
• In-depth knowledge of child development, family dynamics, and child welfare legislation.
• Strong assessment, intervention, and case management skills.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and crisis intervention abilities.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage challenging caseloads.
• Proficiency in using social work databases and standard office software.
• Commitment to ethical practice and client confidentiality.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within the North West province for home visits and court appearances.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of child protection concerns and family situations.
• Develop and implement effective case management plans for children and families at risk.
• Provide direct counselling and therapeutic interventions to children and families.
• Investigate allegations of child abuse, neglect, and maltreatment.
• Collaborate with legal authorities, law enforcement, and other agencies to ensure child safety.
• Facilitate family meetings, court appearances, and case conferences.
• Provide advocacy and support for children and families navigating the child welfare system.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential case records and reports.
• Offer support and guidance to foster carers and kinship carers.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and ongoing professional development relevant to child protection in Klerksdorp.
