Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Advocacy and Policy Advisor to drive social justice initiatives in Soweto. You will develop and implement advocacy strategies, conduct research, engage policymakers, build coalitions, and raise public awareness on key issues affecting Gauteng communities.

This role requires a Master's degree and at least five years in policy analysis or government relations, with strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Law, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in policy analysis, advocacy, or government relations.
• Strong research and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with ability to articulate complex issues.
• Experience in policy advocacy and stakeholder engagement.
• Ability to build consensus among diverse groups.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic advocacy plans to achieve organizational policy objectives.
• Conduct research and analysis on relevant social and policy issues.
• Engage with government officials, policymakers, and legislative bodies to advocate for policy change.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with coalition partners and stakeholder groups.
• Develop policy briefs, position papers, and other advocacy materials.
• Organize and participate in public awareness campaigns and events.
• Monitor policy developments and advise the organization on relevant opportunities and risks.
