Job summary

Joint Medical Holdings Ltd. in Durban seeks an experienced Registered Nurse for ICU to provide high-quality patient care according to SANC scope of practice. You will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care while maintaining clinical standards and documentation.

Responsibilities include monitoring patient acuity, assisting with staffing decisions, ensuring stock control, and guiding junior staff. The role requires shift work, independence, and strong teamwork within a busy hospital

Qualifications

• Must be registered with SANC as a Registered Nurse with valid APC.
• Good interpersonal skills with doctors, patients and colleagues are essential.
• Preferably two or more years experience as a Registered Nurse in ICU.
• Must be prepared to work additional hours.
• Must be able to work independently under minimum supervision.
• Must be computer literate – MS Word & Excel.
• Must be prepared to do shiftwork (Night shift / Day Shift).

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care in accordance with the scope of practice and policies.
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care while maintaining standards.
• Monitor patient acuity and contribute to staffing decisions.
• Ensure accurate patient documentation and billing-related information.
• Promote stock management and report shortages or expired items.
• Ensure safe handling, cleaning, storage, and maintenance of equipment.
• Identify and escalate clinical risks and infection control concerns.
• Participate in quality improvement, audits, and risk assessments.
• Deliver patient-centred care and address patient concerns.
• Provide guidance and supervision to junior staff and team members.
• Participate in staff education and maintain clinical competencies.
