Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Hygiene and Sanitation Supervisor for its Bloemfontein operations. You will oversee daily sanitation activities, lead a cleaning team, and ensure adherence to hygiene standards and safety regulations across facilities.

Qualifications

• Experience as Hygiene/Sanitation Supervisor or similar leadership role in cleaning
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, equipment and sanitation best practices
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to industrial or commercial environments
• Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to train and motivate a team
• Basic inventory management and record-keeping skills
• Attention to detail and strong work ethic
• Physical stamina to perform manual cleaning tasks
• Must be able to work in Bloemfontein and adhere to site schedules
• A relevant qualification or certification in sanitation or hygiene is advantageous

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily activities of the hygiene and sanitation team, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and to standard
• Develop and implement cleaning schedules and procedures for all areas of the facility in Bloemfontein
• Conduct regular inspections of the premises to identify and address hygiene issues or potential hazards
• Train new sanitation staff on proper cleaning techniques, chemical handling, safety procedures, and company policies
• Manage inventory of cleaning supplies, equipment, and PPE, ensuring adequate stock levels
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations
• Maintain accurate records of cleaning activities, staff training, inventory, and incidents
• Communicate effectively with management and other departments regarding sanitation needs and concerns
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure that all team members adhere to safety protocols
• Perform cleaning duties as needed to ensure operational continuity
