Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Telecoms Network Engineer to join our team in Pietermaritzburg. This hybrid role balances in-office collaboration with remote flexibility while ensuring reliable, secure telecom infrastructure.

You will design, implement, and manage complex networks, monitor performance, and collaborate across teams to deliver robust solutions with comprehensive documentation. A relevant degree and industry certs are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Network Engineer or similar role within the telecoms industry.
• Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS) and network security principles.
• Hands-on experience with network management tools and monitoring software.
• Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP) are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and deploy network solutions, including routers, switches, firewalls, and other networking hardware.
• Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations to ensure high availability and minimal latency.
• Perform regular network maintenance, upgrades, and patching to maintain system integrity and security.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues, providing timely and effective solutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan and execute network infrastructure projects.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and procedures.
