Placements24 is seeking a Telecoms Infrastructure Technician to perform field and hybrid work from East London, Eastern Cape. You will install, service, and maintain telecoms equipment, while coordinating with remote teams to keep networks reliable and secure.

The role requires hands-on fiber/copper cabling expertise, strong diagnostics ability, and the flexibility to travel to various sites. A valid license and safety-minded approach are essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Telecoms Infrastructure Technician or similar role in the telecommunications industry.
• Strong understanding of telecommunications principles, network hardware, and infrastructure components.
• Proficiency in installing, testing, and troubleshooting fiber optic and copper cabling systems.
• Experience with relevant tools and testing equipment for network diagnostics.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and site plans.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Must be able to work effectively both independently in the field and collaboratively remotely.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to various sites as required.

Responsabilités

• Install, commission, and maintain telecommunications equipment, including antennas, cabling, routers, switches, and base station components.
• Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on network infrastructure.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot network issues, identifying faults in hardware and connectivity.
• Respond to service calls and site issues, ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption.
• Conduct site surveys and assessments for new installations or upgrades.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, including site reports, fault logs, and inventory.
• Collaborate with remote engineering and support teams to resolve complex technical problems.
• Ensure all work adheres to safety regulations and industry best practices.
