Job summary

Placements24 in Polokwane is seeking a compassionate Special Needs Childcare Provider and Aide to support a child with developmental needs. The role blends in-home care with remote coordination of therapies and educational resources to improve safety, comfort, and engagement.

You will work closely with therapists, educators and family, implement care plans, monitor health, assist with daily living activities, and document progress.

Qualifications

• Proven experience working with children with special needs (e.g., autism, developmental delays, physical disabilities).
• Certification or degree in Special Education, Child Development, or a related field is highly advantageous.
• First Aid and CPR certification required.
• Must be reliable, responsible, and possess excellent problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one care and supervision for a child with special needs.
• Assist with daily living activities, including feeding, hygiene, and mobility.
• Implement individualized care plans and therapeutic activities as directed.
• Create a safe, stimulating, and supportive environment tailored to the child's needs.
• Coordinate with therapists, educators, and family members regarding the child's progress.
• Engage the child in appropriate educational and recreational activities.
• Monitor the child's health and well-being, reporting any changes to parents.
• Administer medication if required, following specific instructions.
• Document daily progress, observations, and interventions.
• Adapt communication methods to suit the child's specific needs.
