Placements24 is seeking a School Librarian and Information Resource Manager for a well-regarded educational institution in Mossel Bay, Western Cape. The role combines on-site library duties with remote collection management tasks in a hybrid work model.

You will promote literacy, manage the library collection, teach information literacy, and collaborate with teachers to integrate resources into classroom instruction. Ideal candidates have library experience and familiarity with Destiny or Koha.

Qualifications

• A relevant degree in Library Science, Information Management, or a related field.
• Experience in a school or academic library setting is preferred.
• Proficiency with library management systems (Destiny, Koha) and MARC cataloging standards.

Responsibilities

• Manage the daily operations of the school library, including circulation and shelving.
• Catalog new acquisitions using library management software and maintain accurate records.
• Develop and maintain a diverse collection to support curriculum and student interests.
• Promote library services and literacy through displays, events, and outreach.
• Teach information literacy skills, including research strategies and citation methods.
• Assist students and staff in locating information and using resources effectively.
• Organize author visits, book clubs, and reading challenges.
• Oversee the library budget and procurement of materials.
• Collaborate with teachers to integrate resources into instruction.
