Placements24 in Mahikeng, North West, is seeking an Automotive Powertrain Calibration Engineer to optimize ECU calibration for gasoline, diesel, and alternative powertrains. The role covers development, testing, and validation to improve performance, fuel efficiency, and emissions.

You will work with INCA, ETAS, and CANape, conduct real-world and dynamometer testing, document calibration strategies, and ensure compliance with regulations while collaborating with engine design teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering.
• 3–5 years in automotive powertrain calibration.
• Experience with engine calibration tools and data acquisition.
• Knowledge of emissions regulations.

Responsibilities

• Calibrate engine control software for gasoline, diesel, and alternative fuel powertrains to meet performance, fuel economy, and emissions targets.
• Conduct real-world and dynamometer testing to evaluate and refine powertrain performance.
• Develop and validate calibration strategies for various operating conditions and vehicle applications.
• Collaborate with engine design and development teams to provide feedback for future hardware improvements.
• Maintain detailed calibration documentation, including test reports, strategies, and final calibration files.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant emissions regulations and industry standards.
• Support vehicle integration and testing activities at the Mahikeng facility.
