Job summary

Placements24 in Upington, Northern Cape, seeks a Network Engineer to design, implement, and maintain a robust network infrastructure. The role focuses on high availability, performance, security, and support across locations in a hybrid work model.

You'll manage routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs; monitor and troubleshoot, develop network documentation, stay updated on new technologies, and collaborate with IT teams to ensure seamless connectivity and optimal uptime.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in IT or CS.
• 3+ years of network engineering/administration experience.
• Proficiency with TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, and OSPF.
• Hands-on experience with Cisco, Juniper, and HP hardware.
• Experience with firewalls and network security concepts.
• Familiarity with wireless networking and VPN technologies.

Responsibilities

• Design, install, configure, and maintain network hardware and software (routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs).
• Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure uptime and performance.
• Implement and manage network security measures, including firewalls and IDS/IPS systems.
• Develop and maintain network documentation, including diagrams and configurations.
• Plan and execute network upgrades and expansions.
• Ensure compliance with network security policies and best practices.
• Collaborate with IT teams to support application and server infrastructure.
• Respond to network-related incidents and provide timely resolution.
• Manage network bandwidth and optimize traffic flow.
• Stay current with emerging network technologies and trends.
