Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an AI/ML Engineer specializing in Predictive Analytics to join our Mossel Bay team. You will design, train, and deploy ML models that forecast business outcomes and drive decision-making in a collaborative environment.

In this hybrid role, you will work across the full ML lifecycle, from data exploration and feature engineering to model validation and production deployment, leveraging Python, Scikit-Learn, TensorFlow/PyTorch, and cloud platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, or related quantitative field.
• 3+ years of experience in developing and deploying ML models.
• Proficiency in Python and common ML libraries (Scikit-learn, Pandas, NumPy).
• Experience with deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch) is a plus.
• Strong understanding of statistical modeling, regression, classification, and time-series analysis.
• Experience with data visualization tools and techniques.
• Familiarity with SQL and database technologies.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) is advantageous.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication skills for a hybrid team in Mossel Bay, Western Cape.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy ML models for predictive analytics, forecasting, and classification tasks.
• Analyze large datasets to identify trends and insights relevant to business objectives.
• Implement feature engineering to enhance model performance.
• Build and maintain ML pipelines for training, evaluation, and deployment.
• Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Stay current with AI/ML advancements, especially predictive modeling and time-series analysis.
• Perform rigorous model validation and testing for accuracy and reliability.
• Communicate findings and model insights to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Optimize model performance for scalability and efficiency.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of data science and ML practices in Mossel Bay.
