Job summary

Placements24 is recruiting an entry-level Junior Construction Engineer to support project execution in Paarl, Western Cape. You will work with senior engineers and site managers, gaining hands-on experience in planning, execution, and monitoring in a hybrid setting with site and remote tasks.

Ideal candidate is a recent graduate or early-career engineer with a strong grasp of basic engineering principles, safety regulations, and a willingness to travel within the Western Cape.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related engineering discipline.
• Limited or no prior professional experience required; internships or relevant academic projects are a plus.
• Strong understanding of basic engineering principles and construction methodologies.
• Familiarity with construction site operations and safety regulations.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite, and eagerness to learn specialized construction software.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a hybrid setting.
• Strong desire to learn and grow within the construction industry.
• Must be able to work on construction sites and travel within the Western Cape.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior engineers in planning and scheduling of construction activities.
• Support the monitoring of construction progress to meet timelines and specifications.
• Help prepare project documentation, reports, and technical drawings.
• Conduct site inspections under supervision to check quality and safety.
• Coordinate with site teams and subcontractors to resolve minor technical issues.
• Assist in managing project resources, including materials and equipment, on site.
• Learn and apply engineering principles and best practices in real-world scenarios.
• Participate in site safety meetings and contribute to a safe work environment.
• Support quantity surveying and cost control aspects as needed.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders on-site and remotely.
